Help with face sculpt selection
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:50:25 PM »
I am going to make a taylor swift doll, and I am undecided as to which face mold suits her.

I look at the nose, eye setting, height of the cheekbones and mouth shape. I will pick the appropriate skintone and reroot her.
here are some pics, any feedback is welcome!

Lara

Diva

or Daria

Plus another, the girl herself, the system would not let me do 4 pics at once

I vote for Daria. Lara should work too, but the nose seems thinner. Diva's face looks too oval to me.
I was born in the Soviet Union - art supplies are hard to find here so please keep it simple with me!

Definitely Daria.

Thanks you guys! I am seriously leaning towards Lara, only because I was concerned that Daria's nose is too flared (like a horse LOL). the Lars I would have to buy...
I have that exact Daria, she is an early re-root I was practicing on and just found-its not a finished root but it is terrible! I have no qualms ripping it out! I was using nylon on her. ick. The other roots I've done are saran. Definitely love the saran... I have some ash blond colors coming from Restoredoll, my first order with them.

I'm making a Taylor Swift doll too for my daughter who is a huge fan!!!  :grin1:

I've chosen a Mackie Sculpt (just because that was the only one that I have with pale skin...
Mackie face is not the right one but...  :concern:

This is how she's turning out... I think I have to fix her eyes and eyebrows...

What a co-inki-dink! lol!
 :rolf1:
Yours is turning out so cute!!! You are doing a full face paint-yikes. Those stress me OUT! I am only doing an enhancement, like "spokes" in the eyes and lines for the teeth and some eye shadow. Your doll looks like that UK Barbie from The Dolls of the World collection. I also considered the Australian doll of that collection-she is the Open Mouth Mackie face mold. But, I have my Lara, aka City Shopper, coming by mail in a week. She is a model muse doll which is perfect because that is exactly Taylor's figure.

In the meantime I am going to start the dress, cutting, piecing ,hemming-its going to be the Alberta Ferretti dress she performed in at the Grammys this year.

The Taylor Swift-off has begun.....lol

Thank you Mooshygirl!!!

I don't know which dress I'll do for her... my daughter has to decide  :grin1:
I will make another Taylor because she wants one on curly hair and the other one with straight hair with bangs...

I think I will make a guitar too!!  :woohoo: :woohoo:

hugs  :hug1:

COOL! Hey,  if you need, I have an issue of Barbie Bazaar with instructions on how to make a guitar out of balsa wood-I could scan the article and send it by email

Edit:
now I am thinking of using a pale/Caucasian Lea face mold...yikes
